Murchison Historical Society obtains Grant to benefit Volunteers

Murchison and District Historical Society was successful in obtaining funding to pay for new chairs through the Volunteer Grants for 2013.
The aim of the grants offered by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, is to support volunteers and encourage volunteering in the local community and to promote social inclusion.
With the purchase of new chairs, our volunteers will have more comfortable, stable chairs to use while working on the cataloguing and caring for our collection at the Heritage Centre.
Sharman Stone MP member for Murray visited the Heritage Centre to present a Certificate acknowledging the grant recently.
The new chairs will be very welcome and timely to furnish our multipurpose room that will be added with the refurbishment of the Heritage Centre. The planning process for this project is well underway and the alterations and the new extension should start early next year.
So, no more sitting on cold hard uncomfortable chairs for our hard working volunteers thanks to this grant.
