From October 23rd to the 30th we celebrate History Week and to mark the beginning of this special week we have invited Tim Whitford to give a presentation of his amazing journey over many years searching for the final resting place of the Australian soldiers lost at the Battle of Fromelles in France in 1916.
With three other Australians, Tim researched and studied archival material, doggedly pushed on when officialdom raised obstacles and with determination and a bit of luck succeeded in locating 250 missing soldiers.
Tim tells an enthralling tale with some surprising twists and turns supported by some great photographic images.
This event will be held in the Community Centre in Murchison during the afternoon of 23rd October starting at 2pm and refreshments will be served after Tim’s presentation.
All welcome – RSVP Kay 5826 2518 for catering purposes.
This special event will support fund raising for our planned extension and improvements to the Heritage Centre.
Also, the Heritage Centre will be open every day during History Week from 11am to 1pm to give more opportunities for anyone to call in and enjoy the displays and learn more about the varied and surprising history of Murchison and District.
